Getting Started

So I finally decided to sit down and write this blog that I've been talking about. I've been living in Racine for over one week, and it just feels like I've been procrastinating long enough. I decided to write a blog this summer for a number of reasons, the first of which is that it is clearly the popular thing to do (ex. Stranded in Chicago, Kelda in Chile, Taking Tokyo by Storm, and The Far (East) Side). I'm not exactly traveling the world like my sisters, but I am learning about a new place all by myself - and I think I'm a little further stranded than Harris.

Second, I want my mom to see what I'm up to this summer. It's my first summer away from home, so she has to see me living like a grown up! I've only lived in the dorm and the Chi Omega house, so this is my first apartment experience! I also want my 1916 roommates to see that I'm learning to cook. Lauren will be especially proud (I hope)!

Finally, I would have liked to find a resource to tell me that living in Racine isn't so bad. I'm actually having a really good time so far. The weather is weird (really misty), and it clearly isn't a big town, but it is cute and sort of charming. I figure that I can keep a record of the things I discover in Racine, and the next intern won't have to search so hard.

So that's the story for now.
