Mulligan's Mini Golf

That rock structure looks awesome, but I do believe that is where I earned my first seven stroke limit.

After waiting on a Facebook friendship and some pictures from Maya's camera, I am finally ready to write about my mini golfing adventures. When we went to Milwaukee over my first weekend, Maya's GPS (Jill) took us on a really weird route. Still better than my Verizon Navigator, which will not speak to me at all, but we definitely could have gotten there faster.

Anyways, Jill had us take Douglas Avenue for miles (I just checked Google Maps and it actually suggested the same route, so maybe Jill isn't crazy (also, did you see the new Google Maps?!)), and Maya and I noticed Mulligan's on the side of the road. We made a mental note to keep it in mind for the next weekend, so it was our first idea when we made plans on Saturday afternoon.

After my day of lusting after boats, I was really excited to play mini golf. I used to play on a ridiculously regular basis. My summer nanny, Margaret, used to take me and Connor to a mini golf place every few weeks. It was the same place that the Cleveland Skating Club camp would take us, and I nearly cried when I discovered that it had closed three summers ago.

Dan joined us for our adventure to Mulligan's, which is nice because Maya needed someone to keep her company while I chased the ball around. I was truly awful. Mulligan's has eighteen very hilly holes, all of which are par two or three for a total of thirty-nine. And what was my average score? Approximately FIVE. What is wrong with me? Apparently, my golf cart driving skills are the only skills I can contribute to that game.

I had to restart almost every hole because a) the ball would roll back to me, b) I would hit the ball onto another hole, or c) I would hit it into the water. And the one time that I actually had to hit it into the water, I couldn't!

The game ended with Dan as champion with a score of fifty, Maya in a pretty close second with fifty-six, and me with eighty. Yes ma'am, I scored eighty in mini golf. I'm an embarassment. We counted a seven stroke limit rather than six, but either way, I'm absolutely pathetic. At least we had more time playing since I took so long?

Despite my atrocious putting, I really liked Mulligan's. It is pretty spacious, and the hills and water make it much more challenging (or impossible, in my case). Mulligan's also has a driving range where you can use glow-in-the-dark balls and a bunch of arcade games inside.

We all got three on the last one. Holla at your bogey!
Can you imagine me playing real golf? Dan's laughing just thinking about it.
After we finished recognizing my incredible talents, we watched a man get pulled over by a police officer in the Mulligan's parking lot. All of the kids were really interested too, and after the man left with a warning, the kids jumped in the police car and took pictures. Don't you wish I had taken one too? Maya suggested it, but strangely enough, I declined.

When we returned our balls, we were surprised with free popcorn for getting holes in one! To be clear, I obviously did not get a hole in one. I'm pretty sure that would count as an actual miracle. But Dan got two, so I got his second popcorn. Thanks for being so generous Dan! What could I have possibly done to deserve your kindness?

After we dropped Dan off at his place, Maya and I watched Pride & Prejudice on TV (I love it so much!) and then started Bride & Prejudice (the Bollywood version) because I hadn't seen it. We still haven't finished it, so that's on our to do list this week.

Am I a natural or what?
P.S. Dan is probably really excited to finally be included in a post. It is also highly likely that he is reading this at his desk at work while I'm sitting right there. And I can almost guarantee that he's making comments aloud about everything I wrote. The prices I pay for a Facebook friendship...
