My First Apartment

I'm living in a really nice two bedroom, two bathroom condo in downtown Racine with another intern named Maya. I moved out of the Chi O house last Thursday morning/afternoon and moved in here that evening, so it was a bit chaotic for a while. I still have boxes in the living room that I keep meaning to throw away.

The condo building is really nice! It has a pool, a tennis court, and an underground garage, and it costs less than my rent in Evanston next year. Everything here is cheaper!

This is the view from the window of my apartment. It overlooks the water, so it is really cool but also really misty. This morning I could hardly even see Chancery, the restaurant across the cul-de-sac from our place, because the fog was so thick.

These are pictures of my bedroom. It came furnished with a bed and desk but no dresser, so my parents and I got creative with some plastic storage containers. I have a pretty nice closet though, so I've found a home for all of my clothes.

Our kitchen isn't super fancy and it lacks many necessary supplies, but it is large enough for me and Maya to be comfortable cooking together. Plus, the lack of supplies gave me an excuse to shop at Target. Although I'm paying for everything myself this summer (I know, right?!), so I really ought to cut back on the shopping. Then again, my mom should be pleased to know that my spending is the same with my money as it is with hers.

Anyways, that's my lovely apartment. I would never have found it on my own, but someone at the company arranged it for us. They even put me and Maya in touch so that we could get the place together. And Maya is awesome - she's really good at planning things for us to do! There are three other interns living in the building and one other intern also in Racine, so it isn't too lonely.

I still don't know where recycling goes, but otherwise, it feels like home.
